Gynecomastia surgery cost in Busan — why the grade sets the price.

Urogyn publishes one figure for gynecomastia surgery: ₩5,000,000, covering liposuction and gland excision in a single operation. What varies is not the price but what the operation has to do, and that is decided by grade. This guide explains the grading, what the figure includes, and what would make it different.

Gynecomastia Surgery in Busan

The hub behind this cost guide — grading from 1 to 4, liposuction with gland excision, and the compression recovery.

What readers ask before they message us
  1. Is ₩5,000,000 the whole price, or will liposuction and gland excision be charged separately?
  2. How do you know which grade I am before I arrive?
  3. Could I get away with liposuction only and pay less?
  4. What anaesthesia is used and is it included?
  5. How long do I actually need to stay in Busan?

Each is answered below, the way the surgeon would answer it in the consultation room at our Seomyeon clinic.

The short answer: what gynecomastia surgery costs in Busan

Gynecomastia surgery at Urogyn in Busan Seomyeon is ₩5,000,000. That figure covers the operation as body contouring — liposuction of the fatty component and excision of the gland through a small areolar incision — plus anaesthesia, the first compression garment and scheduled follow-up. Pre-operative blood tests and, where indicated, a chest ultrasound (₩200,000) are listed separately.

Men searching for a price usually expect a range, because many clinics quote liposuction alone at one figure and add gland excision as a second. Urogyn prices the combined operation because in adult gynecomastia the gland is almost always part of the problem, and removing fat while leaving gland behind is the commonest reason for a disappointing result. The grading explained below decides how much of each is needed, not whether you pay for both.

Gynecomastia surgery
₩5,000,000

Liposuction + gland excision in one operation. Anaesthesia, first garment and follow-up included.

Pre-op assessment
₩200,000 + blood tests

Chest ultrasound to measure gland versus fat; comprehensive blood test ₩200,000 (₩100,000 with other tests).

Grades 1 to 4: what the grade changes at our Busan clinic

Gynecomastia is graded by how much gland, how much fat and how much excess skin are present. Grade 1 is a small, firm disc of gland behind the nipple with little excess skin. Grade 2 adds a wider fatty component that blends into the chest. Grade 3 has visible skin excess, and Grade 4 has a feminised breast shape with a low nipple position. The gynecomastia hub shows each grade with the surgical plan beside it.

Grades 1 to 3 are treated at Urogyn for the published ₩5,000,000, because the combination of liposuction and areolar gland excision handles all three; the difference is operating time and how much fat is removed. Grade 4, where the skin itself has to be reduced and the nipple repositioned, is a different operation with longer scars, and we tell you at consultation if that is what your chest needs rather than quoting the standard figure and adjusting later.

The ultrasound decides the grade. Pinching the chest tells you there is a lump; the ₩200,000 ultrasound measures how much is gland and how much is fat. That measurement is what makes the ₩5,000,000 plan accurate for you specifically.

What ₩5,000,000 includes — and what it does not

The published price includes the surgeon, the operating theatre at our Seomyeon clinic, sedation with local anaesthesia, the liposuction, the gland excision through a half-areolar incision, closure, the first compression garment, and the scheduled dressing checks in the first week. It does not include the pre-operative chest ultrasound and blood test, which many men have first to confirm the diagnosis before committing to surgery, nor a replacement garment if you want a second one for washing rotation.

  • 1 Included. Surgery, anaesthesia, first garment, first-week checks, photo follow-up after you fly home.
  • 2 Separate. Chest ultrasound ₩200,000; comprehensive blood test ₩200,000 (₩100,000 alongside other tests).
  • 3 Not charged. English consultation, the written quotation, a second opinion on your photos before travel.

Everything on this list is on the full price list. There is no foreigner surcharge and no item added on the day without your agreement.

Why "liposuction only" quotes are cheaper, and often wrong

Liposuction removes fat. It does not remove gland, which is dense and fibrous and does not come through a cannula. In adolescent gynecomastia that resolves, or in purely fatty pseudo-gynecomastia after weight gain, liposuction alone can be enough. In the adult men who come to our Busan clinic after years of training without the chest changing, there is almost always a gland disc under the nipple — and that disc is exactly what makes the chest look puffy in a T-shirt. Taking the fat and leaving the gland produces a flatter chest with a persistent nipple bump, and a second operation.

Our comparison of liposuction versus gland excision goes through the anatomy. The short version for budgeting: a lower quote that excludes the gland is not a saving if it leads to a revision.

Anaesthesia and theatre: why they are part of the price

Gynecomastia surgery at Urogyn is done under sedation with local anaesthesia in our own theatre in Seomyeon, by one of the three urologists on this page, and takes about ninety minutes. Sedation is included in the ₩5,000,000, as is the recovery hour afterwards. Men who prefer general anaesthesia, or whose medical history requires it, are told at consultation; our guide on how anaesthesia is chosen explains the difference. You go home — or back to your Seomyeon hotel — the same day.

Recovery: the costs most men forget to budget

The surgical fee is the large number, but the recovery has its own small ones. The compression garment is worn for about four weeks; the first is included and a second costs a modest sum if you want to alternate. Most men return to desk work within a few days and to full gym training at about six weeks, so the real cost is time: plan for seven to ten days in or near Busan if you are flying in, so that the first dressing change and the check before flying happen here. Our gynecomastia recovery guide gives the week-by-week timeline.

Compression is not optional. Skipping the garment is the commonest cause of fluid collection and uneven settling. Budget the four weeks before you budget the flight.

When we advise against surgery — the cheapest outcome of all

Not every chest that looks like gynecomastia needs an operation. Adolescent gynecomastia usually resolves within two years and we do not operate on it early. Pseudo-gynecomastia from weight gain may respond to weight loss and leave only a small gland to deal with. A hormone cause — testosterone deficiency, a medication, a thyroid problem — should be found and treated first; the men's health clinic covers the hormone panel. Men in those groups are told so in writing before they travel to Busan, and pay nothing for that opinion.

Questions to ask any clinic before you pay

Whether you choose Busan or anywhere else, five questions separate a reliable gynecomastia quote from a surprising invoice. Does the price include gland excision, or only liposuction? Who performs the surgery, and is the same surgeon doing the follow-up? What anaesthesia is used and is the anaesthetist included? Is a compression garment provided, and for how long is it worn? And what is the policy if a revision is needed? At Urogyn the answers are: both, the surgeon on this page, sedation with local included, yes for four weeks, and discussed openly before surgery. Our who performs your procedure guide explains why the second question matters more than the price.

About the clinic →

Fitting gynecomastia surgery into a Busan trip

A typical international patient sends photos by WhatsApp, receives a provisional grade and the ₩5,000,000 quotation, and books a consultation and surgery on consecutive days. Allow seven to ten nights in Seomyeon so that the first dressing change falls here and you fly home with the garment settled. Flying itself is fine after about five days; see flying after surgery. The Seomyeon hotel guide lists walking-distance options for the recovery week.

How it runs at our Busan Seomyeon clinic — and your next step

Send two photos — front and side, in good light — with your age, weight history and any medication. We reply in writing with a provisional grade, whether surgery is appropriate, and the exact figure. Nothing is booked until you confirm, and no deposit is taken. The clinic is one minute from Seomyeon Station exit 7; the contact page has directions and the gynecomastia hub has the full treatment page.

Two more questions we hear on the day
  1. Will there be a visible scar? The gland is removed through a half-circle incision on the lower edge of the areola, where the skin colour changes. It fades over months but does not disappear, and we show you exactly where it will be before you decide.
  2. Can the gland grow back? Removed gland does not regrow. Fat can return with significant weight gain, and a hormone problem left untreated can stimulate remaining tissue, which is why the hormone check matters.

Gynecomastia surgery cost — FAQ

At Urogyn in Busan Seomyeon gynecomastia surgery is ₩5,000,000 as a combined operation — liposuction plus gland excision — including sedation with local anaesthesia, the first compression garment and first-week follow-up. The pre-operative chest ultrasound (₩200,000) and blood test are separate.
Grades 1 to 3 are treated for the published ₩5,000,000; the grade changes the operating time and how much fat is removed, not the figure. Grade 4, which needs skin reduction and nipple repositioning, is a different operation and is quoted separately at consultation.
Quotes for liposuction alone are lower, but in adult gynecomastia the gland disc under the nipple does not come out through a cannula. Removing fat and leaving gland commonly leaves a nipple bump and leads to a second operation, so Urogyn prices the combined procedure.
Sedation with local anaesthesia in Urogyn's own theatre in Seomyeon, included in the price. General anaesthesia is available when medically indicated and is discussed at consultation.
Seven to ten. Consultation and surgery on consecutive days, the first dressing change around day three to five, and a check before flying. Flying is usually fine after about five days; full gym training resumes at about six weeks.
No. Prices are the same for everyone and English consultation is included. Payment is in Korean won by card or cash.
Three things: no visible scar, a result that is immune to weight gain, and zero complications. Realistic expectations are a flat masculine contour with a fading areolar scar, maintained by stable weight and the compression weeks.
